Why Invisalign Might Be Right for You
If you’re ready to make corrections to your teeth, whether they’re crooked or misaligned, Invisalign might be the best option for you.
This innovative cosmetic technology can change the appearance of your smile and benefit your oral health without anyone knowing. The clear aligner therapy is almost invisible, offering a completely different way to give you the smile you want when compared to traditional, metal braces.
At SPA Dental Group, our teams help patients get straight teeth with Invisalign at two convenient locations that include the midtown east area of Manhattan, New York, and one in Washington, DC.
Conditions Invisalign can correct
To determine if Invisalign is right for you, we first need to evaluate the condition of your oral and health and find out about your dental cosmetic desires.
Invisalign can treat conditions, such as:
- Overbite
- Underbite
- Crossbite
- Open bite
- Crooked teeth
- Gapped teeth
- Crowding
Invisalign doesn’t just correct cosmetic issues. In many cases, it can correct problems that might be causing damage, such as a crossbite hitting other teeth.
How Invisalign works
If you’re a candidate for Invisalign, we take a mold of your mouth to create your clear aligners. The technology allows us to create trays that fit perfectly over your teeth, causing them to slowly shift.
Once your trays are ready, you wear them for 22 hours a day to get the best results, only removing them when you eat and brush your teeth.
Every two weeks, you move on to the next set of trays, continuing this process until your teeth reach the desired positioning.
You can expect to have scheduled visits with our team for monitoring every four to six weeks. Your progression during treatment is key to getting successful results.
How long it takes for Invisalign to work
The amount of time it takes to get straight teeth depends on the severity of shifting that needs to occur. You can notice their movement within just a few weeks. But to get to their final position, it can take six months for some and a year for others.
When you have finished all sets of trays, we provide a retainer for you that you should wear for the first six months to stop your teeth from moving back to their previous position. You can then wear your retainer when you go to sleep.
If you take care of your retainer, it can last a lifetime.
