Tips and tricks
These suggestions can enhance your experience with Invisalign:
Pick the right dental team
Not all dental practices have the expertise in Invisalign like at SPA Dental Group. We’re highly trained in Invisalign and also have a long track record of providing excellent outcomes.
But know that Invisalign isn’t right for everyone, so you need a dentist who provides an honest assessment. That’s what we do. We first assess your smile and determine if you’re a candidate for Invisalign.
If you are, we take impressions that provide a precise fit for the straightening process. Once your trays arrive, we monitor the movement of your teeth every step of the way. We help you maintain your results after you complete the treatment.
Use wax if you need it
Your clear aligners have edges that might take some adjusting. But don’t worry, you’ll get comfortable with them rather quickly. However, you might find that your tongue rubs against them, which can cause sore spots.
If that happens, we can provide you with dental wax to cover the edges. The wax is almost invisible, just like your aligners.
Track your time
For a successful outcome, you need to wear your aligners for at least 22 hours a day. That means you need to manage those two hours well. Divide the time between eating meals and taking time to practice healthy oral hygiene.
Consider setting a timer on your phone and keeping up with your added minutes until you get to two hours. Develop a routine that works for you because consistency is essential.
Take care of your teeth and gums
Since your Invisalign clear aligners are on your teeth for 22 hours, it’s imperative to brush away debris and remnants of food before you put them on. You don’t want anything to get trapped in the aligners where bacteria could develop.
Be sure to brush with a soft-bristled toothbrush at least twice a day and floss at least once a day. Clean your aligners, as well. They could have food in them that you might not see. Brushing and rinsing them ensures you’re putting clean trays on your teeth.
